We're back to recap a great week of comics we read here at GamingTrend.com! This week we have a trio of comic impressions from Dark Horse Comics and a review from BOOM! Studios! From magical journeys to horror references, this week has a little bit of everything! Let's jump-scare into the recap!

The Witcher: The Bear and the Butterfly – Issue #1

As par the course with Witcher stories, this story starts in the same way, Geralt fights a beast, enters a town that doesn't like him because he's a "witch-chah" and he saves people regardless.

This story shines in the detail-work of the art with the action scenes looking fabulous and each character having something interesting about their features.

While this is just a first issue, it's pacing is a bit up and down, but that doesn't stop me from being excited about the story to come!

Arcana Royale – Issue #1

Arcana Royale #1 kicks off a high-stakes magical thriller set in a shadowy casino where players gamble with more than just money—they're wagering the fate of reality itself.

Hudson Tremaine, a sly and seasoned gambler, enters a mysterious tournament filled with danger, secrets, and arcane forces. Cullen Bunn’s sharp writing paired with A.C. Zamudio’s stylish, mystical art creates a moody, fast-paced debut.

With cosmic stakes and noir vibes, this first issue deals a strong opening hand.

Jumpscare – Issue #3

Our hero is finally ready to try and rescue her sister. However, things are never as easy as they could be for Jumpscare.

Our villain who has captured Jumpscare's sister has a LOT to say, but are they even the main villain of our story? We don't want to spoil anything, so we'll leave it there.

There's just one issue left after this, so this issue is PACKED with horror goodies and twists and turns!

Profane Vol. 1 Review

Profane offers an interesting new take on a murder-mystery, with twists that will keep you hooked all the way to the end. It’s meta enough to be immensely fun without completely losing itself in its premise.

Whether you’re a fan of detective stories or just enjoy a fun adventure with interesting elements and enough self-awareness to be entertaining without being annoying, this is definitely worth a read.
