We're back to recap a great week of comics we read here at GamingTrend.com last week! We have three comics to showcase this week: one from Dark Horse Comics, one from Marvel Comics, and one from Titan Manga. We also have two reviews from Tim Jenkins including Kraken Vol. 1 and Venom: Black, White, and Blood! At the end, keep an eye out for a preview of what we're looking at this week!

Star Wars: Hyperspace Stories - Codebreaker – Issue #3/4

Following where we left off, Poe and BB-8 have the First Order Codebreaker in-hand, at least, following them to the exit. The Codebreaker is actually a child who was stolen from her family at an early age. The flashbacks include Captain Phasma, who needs more air-time.

As with most adventures featuring Poe and BB-8, things are never easy. Even members of the Resistance are hesitant to help Poe and the team. Meanwhile, now we have bounty hunters after them! Can they escape and keep the Codebreaker alive? We'll have to wait for the finale!

I've really loved the art, with each planet or location feeling different from the color aspect. Even seeing the difference between the smooth and glossy walls of the First Order areas to the rough and broken down areas of different planets is really fun to see.

Spirits of Violence – Issue #1

Marvel Comics brings back Ghost Rider(s) with a vengeance... or violence, in this case! This story is full of Spirit Riders, some you know and some you may not. However, with the amount of exposition most of the Riders provide, this is a great issue to jump in on if you've been missing out.

The art for Spirits of Violence is extremely detailed and pretty gruesome at times. To a point that this issue is Rated PG-13 due to the amount of violence. With a name like Spirits of Violence, you might be able to assume that though.

I would recommend this issue to anyone trying to get back into Ghost Rider or those looking for a solid take on the Rider's story.

Outsiders – Vol. 1 + 2

A story full of comedic moments mixed with nature vs nurture themes mixed with some classic Vampire/Werewolf tropes gives us Outsiders. From writer Akira Kanou, Outsiders shows that even if you're "natural enemies," that doesn't mean you are actually enemies.

The young protagonist. Ema, finds out that her sister's boss and his second-in-command are a vampire and werewolf. When she does, her life changes as the vampire, Tamaki, gives her a job even though she's still in school. The shenanigans happen due to her sister, since she doesn't know that Tamaki is a vampire nor that Taiga is a werewolf.

Ema and Taiga work together quite often and their relationship is quite fun, meanwhile, is there something Tamaki and Taiga are hiding from Ema? We shall see in the next Volume.

Volume 2 of Outsiders is available TODAY (10/7/25) at titan-comics.com!

Kraken – Vol. 1

Kraken is a fun ride from start to finish, harkening back to the serials of the early-to-mid 1900s. With a story that feels like a strange lovechild of Indiana Jones and H.P. Lovecraft, it is the first in what I hope will be many stories to come.
