Now, let's talk about why a mouse mat is more important than you'd think. Razer has long made the Gigantus, and now they're upgrading them. This "Pro" series is more than meets the eye – there are five different styles depending on how you play a video game. I've only been able to test the balanced and control mat so far (hence going for impressions here), and what they're doing here has merit. Also, check out our review for the Viper V4 Pro gaming mouse – which released alongside this mouse mat – through the bookmark below.

Taking both out of the box, I really like Razer's cushion-y material. It's really soft, which makes for comfortable wrists as you move your mouse across the pad. The max speed variant is using a harder foam, so I wonder if it may be a tad different in feel, but overall I like the choice of Proprietary GlideCore Foam. On the bottom, the anti-slip base is equally soft, and it seems to be more foam than rubber. Even so, it holds beautifully, without any movement that might go against your mouse. At nearly 20inx20in size, this large mouse mat covers the area you'll need it to as well, and then some.

Testing these is easier than it sounds; you just need an aim trainer with a few stats. The SteelSeries GG app has a built-in one, so after a few rounds in a Tile Frenzy game, I was able to build a baseline for these mouse pads. I went with 3200 DPI, and played three games with each mat to get enough data. Taking my best round from each one, I had some interesting findings.
Considering I have not played Tile Frenzy since the testing I did for the DeathAdder V4 Pro, I managed admirably. I set a high on 89 kills with it; here with the Viper V4 Pro, I got to 88. The hardware certainly provides a level up.
With the balanced mat, I had 86 kills, with 92.47% accuracy. I overshot my target 5.38% of the time, but undershot it only 2.15% of the time. Maybe it was the time off, but I was missing a lot more than usual. That said, never being under 82 kills was stellar during my time with both mats – I've fallen short and been in the seventies with other mice.
The control mat had even more intriguing results. As mentioned before, my best was 88 kills, but with 96.70% accuracy. I still missed a few bullets, with 2.20% undershooting but 1.10% overshooting. Given this mat is more coarse to slow your mouse movements, I can look at these statistics and see that accomplished in real time. I was able to control my aim better on the control mat – crazy I know.
The Razer Gigantus V2 Pro works, and I'd be eager to see how much more the max control and max speed ones change your aiming behaviors. Obviously, pairing this mouse mat with a Razer mouse is going to give you great results, but it'd be beneficial with many gaming mice. These are available now, so go and see which Gigantus V2 Pro fits your gameplay.
