We're back to recap a great week of comics we read here at GamingTrend.com last week! We have three comics to showcase this week: one from Marvel Comics, one from Dark Horse Comics, and one from Titan Manga. We also have a Marvel Comic review from Tim Jenkins! At the end, keep an eye out for a preview of what we're looking at this week!

Star Wars: Boba Fett - Black, White & Red – Issue #2

The Black, White & Red series has been an absolute blast from Darth Vader to Darth Maul and now Boba Fett. This series includes individual stories that, as of now, are part of the Star Wars continuity.

Boba Fett is hunting down Samu, a criminal who's known for getting himself out of trouble by running away faster and more clever than others. That is, until Boba Fett is sent after him.

While the story is wonderful, the art and colors are really where this series thrives using only blacks, reds, and whites to tell a story. I was concerned when Boba Fett was first announced since his color scheme isn't blacks, reds, and whites the same as Vader and Maul. However, the team did a great job making Fett look just as fearsome as he normally does. If you're a fan of the Galaxy's Most Feared bounty hunter, this is a great series for you!

Avatar: The Gap Year - Tipping Point – Issue #1

The Avatar franchise is back with a story taking place right before the events of The Way of Water. Jake struggles to be both a father and a military leader while his kids continue to get themselves into trouble.

This issue is beautiful to look at the same way the franchise is beautiful to look at on the Silver Screen and in video games. The story gives us a bit more context about how the Sully's live their lives and struggle to fight together. It also shows how much love Jake has for his adopted family and his children.

Getting closer and closer to Fire and Ash, The Gap Year - Tipping Point is a fun way to get a refresher with new information!

The Raven Dark Hero – Vol. 1

From the first volume, I'm hooked on this interesting take on the Super-Hero/super-powered genre. In a world where almost everyone around him has a power, Suou does not. He works hard to make sure he has every skill he can to still be helpful. However, one day things go a little too far and... Suou is in for more than he bargained for in his wishes.

The art feels fast paced, especially in the fight scenes, but given Suou's abilities: everything feels as fast as he is now. He quickly realizes his reality is not what he thought it would be based on his dreams and finds himself in a bit of trouble. What happens when the hero becomes the villain who's actually the hero?

Undeadpool (2025) – Issue #1

On the surface, Undeadpool #1 might appear to be little more than a Marvel Zombies retread, and for obvious reasons. However, I get the feeling this book is trying to be more than that, especially given the two big reveals at the end of the issue.

It’s still too early to say for certain where this story is going, but as a standalone issue this book reads like a more unique zombie story, one in which we’re able to see every thought and emotion of its “monster.” There are predictable genre tropes, of course, but these seem to be intentionally used to misdirect the reader from the reveal at the end. Overall, Undeadpool #1 is a decent start to what could prove to be a tale as interesting as it is tragic.
