If you’ve just gotten your Nintendo Switch 2, you might be looking for new games to play as you await the holiday season. Thankfully, you’ve got some great choices right in front of you. One of those is Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4, which you may not have realized was available. Here are a few key reasons why Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 is a great fit for your Switch 2, beyond just our review for the game itself.

It’s great for on-the-go play
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 is made up of a lot of smaller missions. When you’re out and about, you don’t always have the time to sit through a twenty to thirty minute session on Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition. In THPS 3 + 4 though, you can hit the career missions which take only a couple of minutes. Doing the smaller objectives as you have the time – like finding the VHS tapes or the S-K-A-T-E letters, can help pass the time in a doctor’s office or waiting on your friends at the mall. Gosh, I miss malls.
You can use it as an MP3 player

A better term considering the timeframe the original released in might be CD player, but we’re splitting hairs. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 has a phenomenal soundtrack, featuring what came before and new music. If you don’t have wi-fi, or maybe you don’t want to waste data, you can always pop out some headphones and click on that THPS 3 + 4 tile. Within moments, you’re listening to the likes of Motörhead, Run the Jewels, RUN-D.M.C, AFI, IDLES, and more.
Two games for the price of one
You could shell out $80 to play Mario Kart World. But, you could also spend almost half that for more: Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 is priced at $50. With two full Tony Hawk games worth of content, a ton of unlockables, and an insane roster full of skaters, isn’t this an obvious choice? There are even new parks like Pinball and Movie Studio, new skaters such as Michelangelo and Bam Margera joining returning pros, and an updated Create-A-Park mode with cross-platform sharing and custom goals.
The size is right
The Nintendo Switch 2 is fantastic because of its portability. You know what else is quite portable? A skateboard. Mimicking that mobile nature, all of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 fits into 38GB of data on your Switch 2. Compared to other sports titles like Madden that take up nearly 57GB of space, this is in the sweet spot. While it could be smaller, the optimization works great – the levels load within a few seconds.
The Nintendo Switch 2 looks like a skateboard
At least, without the wheels, right? Although I wouldn’t kick-flip it, your Switch 2 resembles some of the world’s most popular sporting gear. Playing Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 will keep you from getting the injuries associated with a real skateboard as well. If you’re feeling froggy, however, you could always buy the Collector’s Edition for Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4. It can still be found at physical and digital retailers for $129.99 and comes with a collectible skate deck you can add wheels to. Shred at your own risk.
While these are a bunch of random reasons to pick up Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 – both good and silly – THPS 3 + 4 is a treat. It plays amazingly on the Switch 2, and we recommend giving it a try. If you want to know more about the game itself, check out our review at the bookmark up at the start of this editorial. David Flynn thought THPS 3 + 4 “lands somewhere between remake and reimagining. It doesn’t land either perfectly, but it's still a ton of fun. There’s a lot to see and do, but I’ll always come back to just skating around, pulling off tricks just for the fun of it.”
