Warhammer 40K heads into the Maelstrom for next wave of releases

Games Workshop revealed two new waves of miniatures, featuring the Aeldari and Red Corsairs

Warhammer 40K heads into the Maelstrom for next wave of releases

The Red Corsairs, a pirate fleet of Chaos Space Marines, are getting a revamp in the next wave of Warhammer 40,000 miniatures. Revealed today during a Warhammer Preview event, the Red Corsairs will get two boxes of miniatures, one featuring leader Huron Blackheart and his retinue and another featuring a mix of new Red Corsairs miniatures and Chaos Space Marine miniatures with Red Corsair upgrade kits.

Facing off against the Red Corsairs will be a group of Aeldari raiders led by Prince Yriel. The raiders will be featured in their own Battleforce box, featuring an updated version of the Vyper, a venerable Aeldari vehicle that's receiving its first new kit since 1997. No release dates were announced for either Battleforce box.

The two armies will also be the focus of The Maelstrom, a new boxed set of rulebooks, featuring a mix of lore, detachment rules, and campaign books. The Maelstrom will follow in the 500 Worlds footsteps, with a focus on a specific region of space and the current conflicts spread across the region.

Warhammer 40,000 is in the midst of wrapping up its 10th edition set of rules with a series of campaigns and specialized unit releases. An 11th edition is heavily rumored to be released this summer, following the game's now standard three-year release schedule.
