If you’re ready for some nostalgic SNES brawler action, we have some disappointing news: Retroism announced that it will delay the release of its SNES cartridge for Return of Double Dragon in North America from July 19 to August 21. The game is still available for pre-order through Amazon, and first run order will receive a special red cartridge with an exclusive box.
Return of Double Dragon is the enhanced version of Super Double Dragon, only released in Japan after the original US version and contains many significant changes. Now available for the first time on a SNES-compatible cartridge, fully playable in English.
The Return of Double Dragon cartridge contains an officially licensed ROM, obtained from and approved by the original makers, not an emulated version of the game. The packaging is just as spectacular, and will include a special red cartridge (first print run only), and a new exclusive Return of Double Dragon box!
First released in Japan in 1992, and long out of print, the Return of Double Dragon cartridge lets players once again play as Billy or Jimmy Lee, battling against the Shadow Warriors.
The game will include stages not featured in the original US version of the game. Stay tuned for more news here on Gaming Trend.
