It looks like the Wii U GamePad is getting a redesign.
A new Mario Kart 8 ad contains a blurred shot of what seems to be a redesigned GamePad, but it is clear enough to notice few differences from the original design.
The most notable is the increased screen size, and what appears to be an altered stick layout more akin to that of an Xbox controller.

Nintendo has yet to officially reveal a redesign for the Wii U’s touch-screen controller, but the fact that it chose to obscure the image in the ad does imply that it plans to announce the altered controller very soon.
