Respawn Entertainment and EA have announced an “Open Multiplayer Technical Test” for Titanfall 2. The technical test (which seems to effectively be an open beta) will start August 19 and will be held across two weekends in August for PS4 and Xbox One.
Three competitive multiplayer modes will be featured in the open technical test. Bounty Hunt, a 5v5 mode, has players fighting for points which are earned through kills and collected when players retreat to a bank in between waves of NPC enemies. Pilots vs. Pilots is a classic 8v8 pilots-only mode; no Titans included. Amped Hardpoint takes the original game’s Hardpoint Domination mode and adds double-score bonuses to defended Hardpoints.
Two new Titans, Ion and Scorch, and several Pilot-specific weapons and abilities will be available in the beta, including the Grapple, Holo Point, and Pulse Blade.
Respawn will be showing off gameplay of Titanfall 2 live on their Twitch channel starting August 16.
Titanfall 2 comes to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC October 28. For more on the game, go to Titanfall.com.
