Spark Unlimited is closing its doors

Spark Unlimited has announced that it will be closing its doors and laying off all of its staff.

After NeoGAF users saw the Spark Unlimited’s assets being auctioned off at CMA Auctions, The Lost Planet 3 developer’s closure was confirmed to IGN by John Butrovich with the following statement:

“Yes, Spark Unlimited is closing as a video game developer. The ongoing opportunities for smaller mobile development doesn’t service the needs nor desires of Spark as an entity,” he said. “As such, Spark as we know will cease operations with various splinter efforts focusing on some new dynamic projects inside and outside of game development.”

Spark Unlimited was founded in 2002, and is best known for work on Lost Planet 3, Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z, and Call of Duty: Finest Hour.
