Sony surpasses one million PS4s sold in 24 hours

Wondering how many PlayStation 4’s whipped out the door in the first day?  Well, Sony has announced that they sold over one million in the first 24 hours it was on the market!   Given that those numbers are just for the United States and Canada, those are impressive numbers.   The system is set to launch in Europe and Latin America on November 29th, where Sony expects equally strong numbers.   Here’s what Andrew House, President and Group CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. had to say:

PS4 was designed with an unwavering commitment to gamers, and we are thrilled that consumer reaction has been so phenomenal. Sales remain very strong in North America, and we expect continued enthusiasm as we launch the PlayStation 4 in Europe and Latin America on November 29. We are extremely grateful for the passion of PlayStation fans and thank them for their continued support.

Looks like a strong start for Sony.  Congratulations to the hardware teams – this is the culmination of a lot of work, I’m sure.   I’d be interested to know how many Vitas are sold this quarter given how awesome Remote Play is…
