Skylanders: Imaginators lets players create their own characters

The next game in the Skylanders series has been announced, and it will allow players to create their own characters for the first time in the franchise’s history.

Titled Skylanders: Imaginators, the latest in the toys-to-life series will come to PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Wii U, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 on October 16th. While it will support both its own figures and all the toys from previous entries, players will be able to use element-based “creation crystals” to begin the creation process of their own in-game Skylander characters. The character’s element is determined by the creation crystal, while you’ll also be able to chose between one of ten classes. Then you can customize the character’s appearance.

You can get a glimpse into the process in the debut trailer below:

Skylanders: Imaginators is the sixth iteration in Activision’s toys-to-life franchise, and with Disney Infinity shutting down it will have one less competitor in the market.
