I’m trying. I’m really, really trying to learn guitar. I have plunked away at it, but I just don’t find reading a tablature book and then trying to replicate it to be all that exciting. Well, Rocksmith 2014 is trying to fulfill my Rock and Roll Fantasy and make me a Jukebox Hero! While we strum away at our upcoming preview, we’ve got a new trailer for the game showing off the Guitarcade and Score Attack modes that help you with practicing beyond the songs. Here’s a bit about the new modes while you load up the trailer:
With a completely redesigned interface, new songs, and all-new features, Rocksmith 2014 Edition is tailored to better teach the key elements of guitar playing. A new fully customizable “Riff Repeater” lets players select any section of a song they want to play, and repeat that section over-and-over until it’s mastered. Players can also set the starting difficulty level, speed, or play note-by-note through challenging parts, all on-the-fly. A new “Master Mode” makes playing by memory more approachable and new “Guitarcade” mini-games have been created to hone specific guitar skills. With these flexible and deep practice tools, it’s never been easier for players to play their favorite songs on guitar or bass.
I can tell you that it’s slow going, my tutelage, but I do feel like I’m making progress. It’ll be a while before I can really play The Trooper, but damn if I’m not feeling at least like I’m shredding a very tiny bit!
Rocksmith 2014 hits in October for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
