Nintendo DS Handheld Sales Surpass 50 Million Mark

Today’s a happy day for the people at Nintendo. They’ve just announced that the Nintendo DS has surpassed the 50 million sales milestone! That’s right, over 50 million Nintendo DS units have found their ways into various, eager hands – now that’s a success by any measure. Wario’s certainly happy about it. Look at him up there, enjoying his share of the profits and… wait, what’s on his lip? You know what, forget that. Instead, let’s have a look at some of the celebratory announcement straight from the press release itself!

“The Nintendo DS forever changed the gaming landscape, and the fact that consumers continue to embrace the platform is a testament to its value and mass appeal,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “Our hand-held story continues with the Nintendo 3DS system, which just had its second consecutive month of growth and enters its first holiday season with a monster lineup of games, including Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7.”

So there you have it. The Nintendo DS: A smashing success. The Nintendo 3DS: The next smashing success. Or at least that’s what the good people at Nintendo are working on. Congratulations on your success, Nintendo! Now we just need someone to tally up the number of Koopa Troopas collectively slain by Nintendo gamers.
