Nintendo Discontinuing 3DS XL Model in Japan

Nintendo will be discontinuing the original 3DS XL model in Japan as it shifts focus to the New 3DS in the territory.

News of this comes from the company’s website, which, according to a translation by Siliconera, has a “ending production soon” notice next to the original XL model. The standard edition of the handheld appears to be unaffected.

The New 3DS was announced earlier this year, and will feature a second analog pad, NFC support, and will even have some exclusive features for certain games.
