Metroid Prime: Federation Force dated for an August launch

Metroid Prime: Federation Force has a release date, and the multiplayer-centric spin-off will come to the 3DS in North America on August 19th.

European fans will have to wait a few weeks, as Federation Force will be launching in the territory on September 2nd. Nintendo also confirmed that the game has been delayed in Japan from June 25th to August 25th, citing balancing issues as the primary cause.

Nintendo originally announced Federation Force during its E3 2015 Nintendo Direct presentation, and it was immediately crucified by the public for its multiplayer focus and lack of Metroid protagonist Samus Aran. The company has since stated that it believes players will still enjoy the game, even if it’s not what is typically associated with Metroid.
