Get a Glimpse into Persona 4 Arena’s Story and New Mechanics

Two more Persona 4 Arena Ultimax trailers have been released. This time, they’re not showcasing individual characters, they’re showing off the game’s story and new Shadow character variants.

The story trailer (which you can view above) shows an blackout-stricken Inaba overtaken by a red fog similar to the one featured in Persona 4 proper. Meanwhile, Persona 3 characters Aigis, Akihiko Sanada and Mitsuru Kirijo have been captured by a new character named Sho Minazuki.

The Systems Trailer focuses primarily on the Shadow variants of nearly every character in the game’s roster. The Shadow version of each character is inherently weaker than their non-Shadow counterparts, but carries with them a great deal of differences to give them some use.

Atlus has been showcasing the game’s growing roster, most recently showing off DLC characters Adachi and Marie, while also showing off the improvements some characters returning from the original Persona 4 Arena have undergone in the sequel.

Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is coming to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on September 30th. For more on the fighting game spin-off, check out our preview from this year’s E3.
