Ellie from The Last of Us looks too much like Ellen Page for Ellen Page’s comfort

last-of-us-ellen-page-top630Canada’s favorite oddball cutie, Ellen Page, a.k.a. Juno, a.k.a. #wrongforInception, a.k.a. [spoiler alert] the girl who castrated Patrick Wilson in Hard Candy, recently addressed hype surrounding the fact that she (until recently) looked exactly like Ellie, one of the two main characters in Naughty Dog’s visceral masterpiece The Last of Us.

The fact is, this wouldn’t be a big deal at all (Page claimed she’s sorta flattered) except for the fact that she’s currently attached to another PS3 exclusive, Beyond Two Souls. The exchange where Page directly addressed the issue took place during a recent Reddit AMA, where the interlocutor in question wrote:

This has almost certainly been made clear to you several times, but are you aware how much you look like Ellie from The Last of Us, a video game which came out about a week ago[?] She even sounds like you. So much so that almost everyone assumed it was you playing the role.

Her answer mentioned the other voice-acting commitment as the reason for not “appreciating” the striking resemblance, which is understandable since I wouldn’t want to be mistakenly associated with a completely different project, either. Naughty Dog stepped up to the plate to address the issue quite quickly, however, tweaking the appearance of Ellie to create more of a distinction. Plus, in spite of the backlash from Juno advocates during the AMA, it seems like the whole thing has been cleared up to the satisfaction of all involved parties, based on a brief exchange of tweets: Naughty Dog reminded everyone that they had tweaked the girl’s appearance, and Page politely responded that she was “looking forward to playing” The Last of Us.

There’s not much more to elaborate on here, but I believe this is what Naughty Dog and Ellen Page really wanted to say after everyone flipped out on Reddit. At any rate, The Last of Us is an easy front-runner for Game of the Year, and you should probably go read our fearless leader Ron’s review of this gem here (if you haven’t already).
