Blue Bomber turns 25, and to celebrate Capcom pits him against Street Fighter cast

Like almost everybody else my age, I spent a large portion of my childhood staring at a 17 inch CRT television playing Mega Man and Street Fighter. So, when I found out that Capcom was going to smash those two titles together in honor of both turning 25,and then release the end product for free, I was practically salivating.

Street Fighter X Mega Man was actually developed by Singapore native Seow Zong Hui, and essentially recreates the vibe of the old Mega Man games, except instead of facing off against the Robot Masters, the Blue Bomber is going to be butting heads with the likes of Ryu, Dhalsim, and M. Bison. Don’t take my word for it, though, here’s what Capcom had to say about it:

The game stars Mega Man and features eight brand-new Street Fighter-themed levels and bosses inspired by the legendary fighting game series. Each boss character will utilize their individual strategies and special moves against Mega Man, as players attempt to mega blast their way through each uniquely charming 8-bit world.

It’d be really hard to overstate the impact that these two franchises have had on my personal gaming history, and given the slow speed of Capcom’s servers today it seems I’m not the only one who’s excited by the idea of mixing them.  You better believe I’ll be downloading this one as soon as I can.  In the mean time, check out the link in the press release below, and give the trailer a look.
