Bioware Talks its Artistic Inspiration for Dragon Age: Inquisition

At EGX, Bioware showed off not just a new trailer for Dragon Age: Inquisition, but also spoke about the game’s art direction.

Through Twitch (starting at the 11:35 mark) Bioware’s Neil Thompson explains what the studio’s inspiration was regarding the look of the Dragon Age series.

“I think it goes back to that idea of the broad inspirational pallet.” Thompson said regarding Dragon Age’s artistic influences. “I think people are doing themselves a disservice if they’re working in a medium like games, like films, like traditional artwork and you’re only taking your inspiration from that medium. I think by necessity it’s gonna stifle you creatively. I think what we encourage at Bioware, and what certainly all the artists are really interested in, is that their interests extend way beyond the bounds of video games.”

Also within the presentation was a demonstration of the game at the 26:50 mark.
