Battlefield 3 Open Multiplayer Beta Starts September 29th

EA has just confirmed that the multiplayer beta for the hotly anticipated, heavily advertised game Battlefield 3 will be open to all PC, PS3, and 360 gamers beginning at the end of this month.  There doesn’t appear to be any restriction to those who’ve already pre-ordered, making a truly open test for gamers around the world, but anyone champing at the bit can choose to pre-order the PC version through EA’s Origin service to earn access two days early.

The beta is set in Paris on the Operation Metro map, where players work their way from lush parks on the outskirts of the city to a dark, bombed-out metro station, to the vibrant streets around the Paris stock exchange. Two elite tactical units square off in the series’ popular Rush Mode. One side takes the offensive by attacking M-COM stations while the opposing squad defends and protects. For more information about the beta, players should visit or follow @Battlefield on Twitter.

When a publishing house like Electronic Arts puts their full weight behind a release like this, it’s easy to get caught up in the hype.  Now we’ll all get to try it out for ourselves when the open beta goes live next week.
