As Battlefield 3 makes its way towards release, EA has announced details on the Limited Edition version of the game which you get for simply pre-ordering it. The first round of downloadable content will be free of charge, for starters. The DLC, called Back to Karkand, adds new multiplayer maps from Battlefield 2 including Strike at Karkand, Gulf of Oman, and the Sharqi Peninsula. There will also be retailer-specific bonus content, however, EA hasn’t specified which retailers will give you which content.
Bonus content includes the Physical Warfare Pack, which gives you a set of three exclusive weapons including the Type 88 light machine gun with bipod, the SKS sniper rifle flash suppressor, and armor-piercing flechette ammo for the DAO-12 semi-automatic shotgun. Second is the SPECACT kit which adds eight new multiplayer skins. Third is the Dog Tag Pack which comes with five unique dog tags, dog tags are the player’s in-game signature which displays every time an enemy is taken down.
Battlefield 3 already has over 10x more pre-orders than Battlefield 2: Bad Company, and is coming to Xbox 360, PS3, and PC on October 25, 2011.
