Ascension: Storm of Souls Now Available on iOS

If you have played Ascension, either the board game or on iOS, then you know how addictive it can be.  Playing it on your iPad or iPhone makes the experience go very quickly since the computer takes its turns very quickly.  Now Playdek has not only released a free upgrade for Chronicle of the Godslayer, but they have Storm of Souls as an in-app expansion.

Playdek, a leading mobile video game publisher and Gary Games, a top board and card gaming company, announces the release of Ascension: Storm of Souls, a new full-size in-app expansion  to the popular Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer iOS game.  Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer on iOS recently passed one million online games.

Ascension: Storm of Souls can be played both online or offline and is designed for one to four players, and can be combined with the first in-app expansion,  Ascension: Return of the Fallen. The newly upgraded Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer, available from the App Store, is required to play Ascension: Storm of Souls. In order to purchase Ascension: Storm of Souls, players must install the FREE upgrade for the Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer.

I have found Ascension to be one of the more interesting deck-building games, and Playdek has done a great job with the translation of Ascension.  The artwork in Storm of Souls is much better than the previous games.  The addition of Trophy Monsters and Event Cards adds a lot to the strategy of the game.  Storm of Souls is the best version of Ascension yet, and the cost of the iOS versions makes this a steal.

While not working as a Database Administrator, Keith Schleicher has been associated with Gaming Trend since 2003. While his love of video games started with the Telestar Alpha (a pong console with four different games), he trule started playing video games when he received the ill-fated TI-99/4A. While the Speech Synthesizer seemed to be the height of gaming, eventually a 286 AT computer running at 8/12 Hz and a CGA monitor would be his outlet for a while. Eventually he’d graduate to 386, 486, Pentium, and Athlon systems, building some of those systems while doing some hardware reviews and attending Comdex. With the release of the Dreamcast that started his conversion to the console world. Since then he has acquired an NES, SNES, PS2, PS3, PSP, GBA-SP, DS, Xbox, Xbox 360, Xbox One S, Gamecube, Wii, Switch, and Oculus Quest 2. While not playing video games he enjoys bowling, reading, playing board games, listening to music, and watching movies and TV. He originally hails from Wisconsin but is now living in Michigan with his wife and sons.
