TGIF: Gaming Trend’s Weekend Lineup

This week at work was incredible, your boss was extra nice to you, your were super productive…who am I kidding? Work sucked, your boss is an ass, and you didn’t get anything done. Friday is finally here; let’s blow this popsicle stand and go play some video games!

February feels like a desert, and South Park: The Stick of Truth is a mirage that never seems to get any closer. Luckily, I brought with me a big thirst-quenching bottle of Peggle 2. I’ve been playing on my roommate’s Xbox One and it’s been friggin’ great. I was a major fan of the original and the sequel is just more of that but a lot prettier–and I am perfectly okay with that. On a more fantastical note, the Renaissance Festival is in my town this weekend, so I might actually go outside and enjoy some fresh air, jousting, and ale.

I still haven’t picked up a next gen (er, this gen?) console, but I’m not missing it nearly as much as I thought I would. I’ll probably spend some of this weekend playing the Second Assault DLC for Battlefield 4 on PC while secretly mourning the fact that it’s still no Bad Company 3. I also picked up the latest Humble Bundle, so I hope to check out Monaco if time permits. And even if time doesn’t permit, I’ll find some way to squeeze in a couple hours of Rocksmith 2014 because my future rockstar self will thank me even if my current neighbors don’t.

Ron Burke – Editor in Chief

My weekend is packed full of complete and total awesome.  I’m currently working through a review of Thief (spoiler – it’s fantastic and the levels will take upwards of an hour or more to complete, so no worries there.), I’ve got Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 arriving today, and I just received a gorgeous art book for Titanfall to thumb through. I also picked up an OUYA to put through its paces, though admittedly Thief has shoved that in the back seat.  Somewhere in there I need to find some time to write about all this great stuff.   I’m with Josh though – that 14 minute video of South Park: The Stick of Truth sold me on that game completely.

Justin Pauls – Staff Writer

I’ve got a busy weekend, but not much of it involves a game controller. I’ve been involved with Voyageur Games, a strength and balance competition and may have made it through to the finals on Saturday. Between that and wrapping up The LEGO Movie Videogame with my son (review pending), I might find some time to run around in the Xbox One release of Strider. Peggle 2 will undoubtedly be played – I find it a fantastic diversion to cleanse my gaming palette, or to use as filler while I wait for friends to hop online.

How about you? What games are you playing this weekend that will help you to relax and unwind? Sound off in the comments section below.

On December 5, 1986, Josh was born into this world pink-faced and squalling. His only thoughts were, "WHAT IS GOING ON? WHO ARE ALL OF THESE PEOPLE? AND WHY THE HELL AM I NAKED?" 19 years later he bought an Xbox 360 and now plays and writes about video games. Life is funny that way.
