Games for the Masses–Total Victory!

russian-flag-enRejoice comrades, for we have emerged from our Great Struggle as glorious victors!  Through constant agitating, through endless complaining on twitter, and through endless forum flame-wars, we have made our issues known and We. Have. Been. Heard!

Today Sony announced that the PlayStation 4 will not attempt to redefine ownership of your console discs.  The Ps4 will not prevent the sharing or selling of used games between gamers who legally obtained them. The Ps4 will not punish those of us who live with restricted internet access.  The Ps4 will be relatively affordable for a high-end gaming console.  Everything we asked for, we have received!   All hail our Glorious Japanese Leader!

[singlepic id=13173 w=320 h=240 float=left]In all seriousness, this has been a huge win for the gaming consumer.  I have no doubt that publishers were pressuring Sony to give them the same level of control over the used market that the Xbox One did.  Sony listened to the outrage and decided it was worth more to them to side with gamers.  So let that be a lesson to you, comrades: you do not have to let corporations dictate terms to you.  If you get together and you complain loud enough, long enough, they will bend to you. Get mad!

The trick to this strategy, comrades, is to remain steadfast.  Do not fall into hypocrisy.  However, never feel that it’s pointless to complain to a faceless corporation.  Somebody else might be listening.

Game on, comrades.  Power to the People.
