New 3D Sonic game announced, trailer revealed

Sega revealed a trailer for a new 3D Sonic game last night at San Diego Comic Con. The game, currently called Project Sonic, is being developed by Dimps, the team that developed Sonic Colors and Sonic Generations. It is expected to release during the 2017 holiday season.

Sonic Forces - Debut Trailer

The trailer shows both Sonic and Classic Sonic in a ruined city, and encourages players to “join the resistance,” leading some players to refer to the game as either Sonic Generations 2 or Sonic Resistance. The game is coming to PC, Playstation 4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo NX. For more on Sonic, check out the trailer for Sonic Mania, a retro take on the Sonic series also announced at SDCC.
