The Johto Region Pokémon and Holiday Pikachu come to Pokémon GO

Pokémon GO has begun a slow rollout of Pokémon from the Johto Region. Thus far, Pichu, the baby form of Pikachu, and Togepi are the only Second Generation Pokémon which have been confirmed as available, but the announcement confirms that several other Pokémon from the Gold and Sliver games will be available over the coming months. Currently, it seems that Pichu and Toegpi do not appear int he wild, and can only be acquired by hatching eggs. The video features only yellow colored eggs, so those who are hoping to expand their Pokédex should focus on hatching 5 km eggs.

Holiday Pikachu will be appearing in Pokémon GO until December 29th

Niantic also announced that a limited edition festive Pikachu will be available all over the world until December 29th. There has been a great deal of anticipation over the release of the Second Generation of Pokémon, and while many are elated at having new Pokémon to catch, some fans are taking to Reddit to express their dismay over the egg-based slow roll out, as well as the lack of candy and experience boosts in the Pokémon GO Christmas event. The game has updated its loading screen with a new, festive image featuring Pikachu, Snorlax, and several other Pokémon hanging seasonal decorations and lights.
