Rocksteady Studios and Warner Bros. Interactive announce Batman: Arkham Knight

In an interesting reveal, Rocksteady and Warner Bros. have announced the conclusion to the Batman: Arkham franchise in the form of Batman: Arkham Knight. Batman: Arkham Knight will be coming to the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Surprisingly, a release date was also mentioned. Or rather, a year was mentioned: 2014. Although Warner Bros. would not commit to a firm date just yet, it says a lot that they are attempting to commit to 2014. Unlike the last installment in the Batman franchise, Batman: Arkham Origins, this game will be developed by Rocksteady Studios, the creators of the original Batman: Arkham Asylum and Arkham City.

“The team at Rocksteady Studios is putting a tremendous amount of work into delivering the final chapter of our Batman: Arkham trilogy so that fans can feel what it’s like to be the Batman,” said Sefton Hill, Game Director at Rocksteady Studios.  “We’re excited to be developing the game for next-gen platforms, which has allowed us to bring to life the design elements that we envisioned from the beginning such as the Batmobile and how it augments Batman’s abilities, to the fully detailed and realized Gotham City.”

You can view the announcement trailer above, and expect Batman: Arkham Knight to be available at some point in 2014 on the PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

Gamestop has placed Batman: Arkham Knight on their website with an October 14th, 2014 release date, but neither Warner Bros. or Rocksteady have confirmed this date.
