Pokémon starter evolutions revealed, playable demo coming October 18th

The Pokémon Company released a video today which revealed the second evolution forms of the starter Pokémon for the upcoming Sun and Moon games. Rowlet evolves into Dartrix, Litten evolves into Torracat, while Popplio evolves into Brionne. This video also announced a playble demo for Pokémon Sun and Moon will be available for download on October 18th. Completing this demo will unlock a rare Ash-Greninja which players will be abel to transfer to their main game, allowing them to start their adventures in the Alola Region along side a Greninja with the very unique Battle Bond Ability.

Along with the new starters, The Pokémon Company revealed an entirely new feature: Poké Pelago. Pokémon players are undoubtedly familiar with the PC Pokémon storage system, and Pelago represents the first major upgrade to this feature. Upon being deposited into a PC storage box, Pokémon will be able to visit a variety of different islands, each with its own, unique features. On the Isle of Abeens, you can set out treats to attract wild Pokémon to join your game, while on the Island of Aphun, you can send you Pokémon to explore caves and find items, such as evolution stones. These islands can be upgraded and expanded, unlocking features like the ability for your Pokémon to train and level up while in the PC box.

The video also revealed the Festival Plaza, a permanent celebration where players can interact with other Pokémon players they have met via the communications features. This plaza, which is similar to Lumiose City in Pokémon X and Y allows players to complete side quests and mini games in order to earn festival coins, which can be used in festival shops to unlock unique clothing, items, and even boosts to the stats of their Pokémon.

Earlier this week, the Holo Caster service for Pokémon X, Y, Omega Ruby, and Alpha Sapphire was disabled. This feature gave players access to news, promotions and updates, in addition to the Streetpass feature. This service was presumably shut down in preparation for the launch of the Generation 7 Sun and Moon games. Pokémon Sun and Moon will release worldwide on November 18th, you can learn more about the games and the Alola Region at the official website.
