Mortal Kombat X’s story trailer asks “Who’s Next?!”

Mortal Kombat X looks absolutely amazing, and today we get a video to showcase the story that will power this new fighter. Entitled “Who’s Next”, the trailer takes place 25 years after the events of the 2011 Mortal Kombat. Let’s dig into the details:

Taking place 25 years after the events of Mortal Kombat (2011), the new generation of characters will discover that Outworld is not the only threat they face. Fans will get a first look at the newest fighters to join Cassie Cage, including Jacqueline Briggs, daughter of Jax, Takashi Takeda, son of Kenshi and Kung Jin, descendant of Kung Lao.

Eric Van Allen got his hands on the game during PSX and had some very positive first impressions.

It was relatively easy to figure out basic moves, while specials and Fatalities are still available for the advanced. Environmental attacks are also brought in from Injustice, whether it’s simply leaping off the background to gain a positional advantage, or throwing a piece of wreckage from a monsoon at your opponent.

In my second match, I played another of the new fighters, Kotal Kahn. An Aztec sun god, I chose his variation that allowed me to use a giant blade and prepared to take on another new fighter, the bug-infested broodmother D’Vorah.

Mortal Kombat X will be released worldwide on April 14, 2015 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Windows PC.
