2K Games unveils DLC plans for The Bureau: XCOM Declassified

2K Games continues to provide news in a rather slow news week, this time announcing pre-order and post-game DLC for The Bureau: XCOM Declassified. The announcement of this DLC is definitely a bit puzzling. It’s going to bring up the popularized argument of “removing parts of the game and selling them as DLC” for many, but I’m just happy to see that 2K will support The Bureau past its release.

In the almost two years since its release, Dark Souls can be held accountable for the untimely deaths of many player characters as well as probably some controllers. It was a game that grabbed the hearts of so many and then proceeded to punish our love with frustrating death after frustrating death. Mario Kart 8 for Wii U will turn your world upside down

Finally in HD and blistering onto your Wii U at 60 frames per second, Mario Kart 8 looks poised to turn your head (and maybe your stomach).

Plenty of features from previous incarnations are making a comeback such as tricks, motorcycles, hang gliders and underwater racing, but new this year will be the dizzying ability to defy gravity. Races will take to the walls and ceilings, in an effort to show you racing from a whole new perspective.

My first experience with Donkey Kong Country was a glorious moment – I don’t remember how or why but I ended up getting both Donkey Kong Country and Killer Instinct for the SNES on the same day. It must have been my birthday. I’ll always fondly remember that day, and for that reason this big gorilla holds a special place in my heart. It was a pleasant surprise when Nintendo announced Tropical Freeze for the Wii U, although admittedly I was hoping for a departure from the traditional side-scrolling gameplay.

SEGA struts their new Nintendo exclusive: Sonic Lost World

Sonic teams up with the diabolical Dr. Robotnik to take down the Deadly Six in SEGA’s new action platformer: Sonic Lost World. The title will appear exclusively on Nintendo’s Wii U and 3DS systems this year. The Wii U version utilizes the console’s gamepad to control Sonic’s Color Powers. The game can also be played on just the gamepad and includes two-player support. The 3DS version contains unique Color Powers and special stages, and is also the first Sonic game to contain fully realized 3D levels on a hand held platform.

Mix and Match with Activision’s Skylanders: Swap Force Trailer and Screens

It’s time to bust out the action figures with a new Skylanders Swap Force trailer and screenshots. Activision shows off the ability to swap the top and bottom halves of two different Skylanders in their new E3 teaser. The game will feature 256 different character combinations between the Skylanders from Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure, Skylanders: Giants, and 16 new characters from Skylander’s Swap Force.

Forza 5 to feature open-wheeled racing

The Forza Motorsport series has been one of high quality since the dawn of the franchise back in 2005. Since then it has become sort of like a pet to Microsoft, Turn 10 and Microsoft trot one out every few years to show just how powerful the Xbox can be. It’s no shocker that Forza 5 is coming to Xbox One, but what is a bit of a surprise is the recent reveal of Formula 1 cars being featured.

After details trickled out about Microsoft’s relatively strict DRM policies for the Xbox One, including restrictions on used games and offline play, eyes turned to Sony at their E3 conference yesterday for a response. Sony didn’t disappoint those who disagreed with Xbox One’s changes; they whipped out a knife, thrust it in deep, and twisted it for good measure. Will Microsoft change course, given the response of gamers (and the market)? If this video clip is anything to go by, it doesn’t seem like it.

Final Fantasy XV is nice and flashy, but for some FF fans the lack of combat menus and other changes leave the game feeling very different from earlier titles in the series. Well, no need to worry! If you’re craving a little old-school Final Fantasy nostalgia, then the new E3 trailer for the HD remaster of Final Fantasy X|X-2 might be just what you need. We got a look at this title pre-E3 with screenshots and a video, but maybe this new trailer will be enough for you to forgive Tidus’ voice acting and revisit the world of Spira.

The Walking Dead: 400 Days announcement followed by new screenshots and trailer

My personal 2012 game of the year looks to be receiving some new downloadable content come this summer. As announced at Sony’s press conference last night, The Walking Dead: 400 Days is making its way to our XBLA and PSN services very soon. Tell-Tale marks summer as their release date. Though technically listed as “downloable content” for season one, 400 Days seems to be a fairly long, contained experience.

Super Smash Bros. for 3DS/Wii U trailer and screenshots show off new characters and cross-play

Super Smash Bros. for the 3DS and Wii U seem inseparable, or at least that’s how it appears in the first gameplay trailer for the game. Nintendo is touting the cross-play functionality of the two games, both of which will be released next year on their respective platforms. The two new characters revealed in the trailer are Mega Man and Villager from Animal Crossing.

The beast within — Zoo Tycoon

Today came the announcement of a new Zoo Tycoon game for the Xbox 360 and Xbox One. Although, the information currently available for the game is incredibly limited as the release video and screenshots really don’t tell us much, this is still a very exciting announcement. For now, we get to enjoy a little humorous exchange between a lemur and an elephant and get some really awesome looking concept art after the break.

Zoo Tycoon currently has no release date but once more information is available we will post it here. For now, enjoy some pretty animal pictures.

New Batman: Arkham Origins trailer introduces the villains

Being an origins story, Arkham Origins takes place before both Arkham Asylum and Arkham City with a younger Batman as he finds himself on the path of becoming the Dark Knight. New Destiny trailer is vividly beautiful

For all the faults one could level at the Halo franchise, blandness was never one of them. While other shooters got increasingly boring and brown, Bungie’s central franchise remained full of vivid purples, oranges, greens, and pinks. Based on what we’ve seen at E3 this year, it looks like Destiny will retain that beautiful mis-en-scene. Check out the first trailer below if you don’t believe me!

I don’t know what it is with franchises about cars being so persistent – from the Fast and the Furious movies to Burnout to Ridge Racer to Need for Speed, these franchises just never end. Not that I want them to end, so long as the quality persists, but it’s sort of uncanny how they’re so Energizer Bunny about it. Today we have a new Need for Speed Rivals trailer that teases the “Cops Vs. Racers” mode which will be similar to the “Cops and Robbers” mode of past Need for Speed games.
