XSEED announces their E3 lineup

The expo may be a few weeks away, but our E3 coverage has very clearly begun. We’ve got our first game lineup, this one coming from XSEED, including the much anticipated KILLER IS DEAD from SUDA51. That’s not their only title though, they’ve got four sequels to some of their most celebrated franchises, namely Ragnarok Odyssey ACE, Rune Factory 4, Valhalla Knights 3, and Ys: Memories of Celceta. We’ve got our first descriptions for those games below for you to check em out. We’ve got an appointment to see all of these titles, so expect quite a bit more than just these paltry few sentences very soon. I’ve also got some sweet screenshots to show you for each of them, so…rock on!

Disney Interactive just sent word (and some screenshots and a video) showcasing the Monsters University Play Set from their upcoming multiplatform Disney Infinity. Monsters University will be one of the first packs launching on August 18, beside the previously announced The Incredibles, Cars and Pirates of the Caribbean play sets. 60 seconds of pure awesome – Law of the Jungle trailer for Destiny debuts

The folks at Bungie are pretty fantastic at crafting games, but damn are they good at making incredible commercials to sell em! We’ve got a trailer called “Law of the Jungle” – a blend of CG and live-action to give us a taste of the universe for Destiny. Who directed the trailer? None other than Jon Favreau (Iron Man series, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Identity Thief, Cowboys & Aliens, Zathura, Elf), and starring Giancarlo Esposito (Revolution, Once Upon a Time, Breaking Bad, and 141 other shows!) Warner Bros. announces new first-person survival horror title, releases gorgeous next-gen screens

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment along with Techland have just announced the development of a survival horror game entitled Dying Light for next-gen / current-gen consoles and PC for a 2014 release. The developers seem interested in capitalizing on a recent wave of survival horror enthusiasm, seen in recent weeks with the hype surrounding titles like Resident Evil: Revelations and Bethesda’s The Evil Within. Can this be the start of a genuine comeback for the embattled, once hugely popular genre? We’ve got the inside scoop right here:

Forza Motorsport 5 debut trailer and screens

Microsoft was showing their best and brightest, and few stood as bright as long-standing franchise, Forza Motorsport 5. The Turn 10 product looked amazing – so amazing that we all wondered aloud if it could possibly be real. Given how fantastic the previous Forza titles looked, however, it was pretty clear that it likely is very real. We’ve got the video from the reveal event for you below, as well as a few screenshots of the game in action. The game is a launch title for the Xbox One, though we don’t know what that timeframe is quite yet. Here’s what we know about the game so far:

If you were following our Liveblog of the event, you know that it’s practically tradition to close with Call of Duty. Tradition holds here and we’ve got the trailer for the fantastic-looking title, Call of Duty Ghosts for you. With DLC launching first on the Xbox One, that tradition has also held. There was a time when I was young where I would roam about the fields behind my house during summer vacation, discovering new realms and conquering imaginary foes armed only with a stick-sword. There was something special about nature to me then, whether it was the peace I felt hiking through uncharted woods, or claiming a giant boulder I’d found as part of my kingdom. Thus, when I sat down to play Night of the Rabbit, I formed a connection almost immediately to Jerry Hazelnut, the 12-year old protagonist, who sets out to explore the woods behind his home at the end of one British summer, and ends up discovering far more than he or I could ever have imagined.

Hands-on with The Last of Us

Recently I got the opportunity to take a level and a half of The Last of Us out for a spin in the comfort of my own home, away from PR and free to experience it as you, the reader would. Taking control of Joel, we appear to be on the outskirts of the city of Lincoln. The objective is simple – Joel’s sometime-friend Bill owes him some favors, and if they can safely reach him he might be able to get what they so desperately need – a vehicle to ferry them cross country to help Ellie reach the Fireflies, a resistance group that can help her.

An Epic Start to a a Mighty Quest

Late last week I got the chance to travel to lovely San Francisco to pay egregious parking fees and visit with Ubisoft to talk about their free to play loot grinder: the Mighty Quest for Epic Loot. Still in closed alpha, Might Quest is a lighthearted, jaunty dungeon crawler that mixes attack and defense in some interesting ways.

Gran Turismo 6 announced with trailer and screens

It’s hard to believe that Gran Turismo has turned 15, but it’s true. Well, there is no sign of it stopping any time soon – series creator Kazunori Yamauchi has announced Gran Turismo 6 (GT6) is heading to the PlayStation 3 during the holiday season this year! With connectivity to mobile devices like smart phones and tablets, as well as social and community functions, it sounds like it could be a PS4 title! The game is also getting a demo in July after the big unveiling at E3, but there is a nagging question- what about all the tracks?!

Feast your eyes on new Rayman Legends video!

Ubisoft launched a new gameplay video today for the upcoming Rayman Legends entitled “20,000 Lums under the Sea,” which comes as a sea-salty follow-up to the very impressive “Mariachi Madness” that came out earlier this month. Like the previous video, this clip features some very endearing music, although it relies more on creative editing to give you a feel for the new level, as opposed to the straightforward level playthrough that was “Mariachi Madness.” In other words, this functions more like a traditional trailer, but it is no less entertaining to watch, and introduces some new costumes, including a Splinter Cell variant(!).

Six Weeks Later – Insurgency Revisited

Last month, I got to take a look at New World Interactive’s Insurgency, a reboot of the popular Half Life 2 mod of the same name. Two weeks ago the game received official “Early Access” status on Steam, allowing gamers to pre-purchase the game and get access to the beta version ahead of its official release. I enjoyed the early version of Insurgency that I got to play with, so this news prompted me to boot up the game again for a second look to see just how much progress the Insurgency team has made in the past six weeks.

New Lord of the Rings Online content update goes live

Treachery of the White Hand is the name of the latest content update released for Lord of the Rings Online, and it’ll feature a number of new areas for your adventuring pleasure throughout Middle Earth and beyond. In addition, the free download will provide revamped combat, “Hobbit presents”(!) that you get just for logging on each day, and VIP benefits that include your character getting to commission a custom portrait. I think it’d look great over the mantle, don’t you?

Avast, ye landlubbers! New trailer hits the scene for Assassin’s Creed IV

Ubisoft released a new trailer today for the upcoming sixth (don’t let the title fool you) installment of Assassin’s Creed, titled Black Flag’s True Golden Age of Pirates (try saying that five times fast with a mouth full of grog and hard-tack). The “Buccaneer Edition,” as it shall henceforth be known in my mind, has been marked for release on October 29th, 2013, and will continue in the vein of exploring downright awesome parts of history, including the Renaissance, and most recently, the American Revolution.

Capcom confirmes Phoenix Wright 5 for the West, gets no objection from us

We here at Gaming Trend are pretty unanimous in our love for the Phoenix Wright series . They’re incredibly well-written, humorous little legal adventures, filled with puzzle solving, logical deduction, and the most colorful cast of characters ever beheld in a portable game. Needless to say, when we heard that Capcom was making a fifth entry, we were excited at the announcement, and a little saddened that there wasn’t a confirmation that it would hit North American shores. Today, our prayers have been answered, as Capcom has not only sent us some screens and a new trailer, but has confirmed its imminent Western release.
