Since the game’s release on November 6, 2012, 11.6 million players have spent time on the servers, and 11.7 billion kills have been recorded. The discussion included announcements regarding a new player ranking system, additional maps, and tons more still on the horizon for the king of sci-fi shooters.

Diablo 3 on the PC was wildly successful and sold a boat load of copies, but it was also wildly hated on for having server-related technical issues during its launch week, for requiring a network connection at all times, and for the real money Auction House which ushered a legitimate pay-to-win model into the game. Ironically enough, due to hardware limitations, the console version will not have any of that.

Undoubtedly for GDC fun, the folks at Ubisoft have released a new trailer to show of the rapidly-approaching Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Blacklist. This trailer is a walkthru of a level called “Abandoned Mill” with commentary showing us some of the new tricks Sam has up his sleeves for all play styles (Panther, Ghost, and Assault) this time around. If you’ve not been keeping up with the title, here is a nibble on the backstory:

The Montreal-based company is planning a hands-on premiere for the survival-horror adventure, which in turn will mark their first foray into the PC market, and probably give you nightmares for a week.
If PAX East 2012 is your thing, here’s a heads up that registration is now open.

PAX East is a three-day game festival for tabletop, videogame, and PC gamers. We call it a festival because in addition to dedicated tournaments and freeplay areas we’ve got nerdcore concerts, panel discussions, and an exhibitor hall filled with booths displaying the latest from top game publishers and developers. Even with all this amazing content the best part of PAX East is hanging out with other people who know their shit when it comes to games.

The show itself doesn’t happen until April 2012, but don’t wait too long to register; tickets have sold out for the last two years, and tickets will probably sell out again.
