Action-oriented Dawn of War II: Retribution players can expect fresh reinforcements in their wave-based arena mode as an all-new Tau commander joins the roster of playable heroes. Sporting entirely unique wargear and newly recorded voicework, the Tau honors his faction’s creed by bringing unparallelled ranged weaponry into the fray…at the expense of any melee skill whatsoever.
The Tau Commander is a brand new hero for Warhammer® 40,000®: Dawn of War® II: Retribution™ and Warhammer® 40,000®: Dawn of War® II: The Last Stand Alone™. The Tau Commander comes with 26 pieces of wargear, 2 achievements, an all new voice and 20 levels of progression. The Tau Commander is an offensively potent hero who can only fire at range and is vulnerable in melee. He can summon one of up to three drones to support his efforts.
The addition of a playable Tau in “The Last Stand,” Dawn of War II’s score-based online cooperative mode, marks the race’s first appearance since the original Dawn of War added them as a playable faction in the Dark Crusade stand-alone expansion. Relic has a history of hinting at what playable races they intend to add to the Dawn of War II line of games in “The Last Stand,” with Imperial Guard and Chaos units appearing as AI-controlled enemies long before they were fleshed out into playable factions by later releases. The addition of a single Tau unit is no obviously no guarantee, but it’s the best hint fans have had yet about the potential for future iterations.
The Tau commander DLC for Dawn of War II: Retribution is available to unlock through Steam for $9.99 right now, right here.
