Super Smash Bros. 3DS Has Sold 2.8 Million Copies

Super Smash Bros. for 3DS is now out in Japan, North America, Europe and Australia, and Nintendo has confirmed that the game has sold 2.8 million copies on the handheld across all territories.

This is approaching triple the numbers the game sold in its first weekend in Japan, and the number is likely to skyrocket in the coming months.

The 3DS version of the game appears to be sitting well with players, despite having been held back slightly by the hardware, as Nintendo has confirmed that the handheld version did affect the game’s development in more than a few ways. The most notable example of this is that some characters were altered or removed altogether, but most are very satisfied with the game.

It was confirmed today that the Wii U version of the game will be coming to the console on November 21st alongside the first round of Amiibo figures.
