Shiny Pikachu has been released in Pokemon GO

Niantic launched its Pikachu Outbreak event in Yokohama, Japan, with far more success than it had at last months Pokemon GO Fest in Chicago. A few special, shiny gems have been noted among the hordes of everyone’s favorite electric rodent. While the coloring of the shiny version of Pikachu isn’t as dramatically different as that of a shiny Magikarp, trainers will no doubt be scrambling to get their hands on this specially colored ‘chu.

Players have also confirmed shiny versions of Pikachu’s evolved form, Raichu, though there have not yet been reports of a shiny Pichu, Pikachu’s baby form, which cannot be encountered in the wild, and must be hatched from an egg. There have not yet been reports of any shiny Pikachu encounters outside of Japan.
