Raw Data goes analog with comic book premier at SDCC

VR developer Survios has made quite the impression with its flagship title, Raw Data. You don’t have to take our word for it; Raw Data was the first VR-exclusive to top Steam’s Global Sales Charts, and had $1 million in sales in its first month. The world of Raw Data is about to expand even more, with the addition of a player verses player mode and today’s announcement of a comic book.

Making its debut at San Diego Comic-Con, the first issue of the Raw Data comic, titled “Promotion Material,” dives into the backstory of Simon Teller, the spunky robot sidekick that fans love, but may not immediately recognize in this story. The comic is written by Nick Bragg (CW’s The 100), with art by Michael Dialynas (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Woods).

It felt like the world of Raw Data was too big to be just a game. … We wanted to help spotlight all the different stuff that we know about this world that the player might not get to see.”

-Jonathan Callan, Survios Senior Writer.

Fans may not immediately recognize Simon in the Promotional Material comic

The comic will be given out at Survios events throughout Comic-Con, and comes hot on the heels of the final Early Access update to Raw Data, which adds a number of new features, including Hostile Takeover, the new Player vs. Player expansion, the game’s latest hero, Elder, the Rogue Hunter, and Soul Decrypt: the most ambitious mission of the entire game, set in Eden’s lush Botanical Gardens.

Our community has been asking for player vs player combat and we are thrilled to be delivering this PvP expansion. For free.”

-James Iliff, Survios Chief Creative Officer and Co-founder

Survios founders invite all convention goers to check out their first panel, Simulated Worlds: Writing for Virtual Reality and Games on Thursday at 7PM. Those eager to experience the world of Raw Data can check it out by visiting VR Con, inside the Omni Hotel, all four days of San Diego Comic-Con.
