PS4’s next firmware goes live tomorrow, brings Remote Play to PC and Mac

The next PlayStation 4 firmware update will go live tomorrow, April 6th.

Update 3.50 will bring new social features like the ability to appear offline while playing, schedule events and gameplay sessions, and set up notifications to show up when friends are online.

Along with these features, Remote Play for PC and Mac will officially go live with this firmware update. Remote Play will be compatible with Windows 8.1, 10 or later, and OS X 10.10 and 10.11. Resolution options that will be available through Remote Play include 360p, 540p, and 720p, with frame rate options for 30fps or 60fps as well.

This update will take place alongside a new update to the PlayStation App, which will receive new functionality to support all these new features.

As of January, the PlayStation 4 has sold over 35 million units worldwide.
