Starting later this week, several Pokemon from the Hoenn region, the third generation of Pokemon, will be found around your town in Pokemon Go. These Pokemon include the starting Pokemon Treecko, Torchic, and Mudkip as well as 47 others. In addition to these Pokemon, the way weather functions in the game has been updated to include a more dynamic weather system.
You’ll want to start paying even closer attention to your local weather patterns, Trainers. In addition to the in-game map being updated with cool new weather visuals, weather near you will impact Pokémon in a variety of ways. For example, you’ll find your odds of discovering Mudkip splashing around will greatly improve on rainy days, as certain Pokémon types will be more commonly found during various weather conditions. Additionally, attacks of certain types will be more effective during some weather conditions, so a Charizard’s Fire Spin will perform better on sunny days, for example. Rain or shine, winter or spring, your gameplay experience will remain fresh, making your time outdoors even more exciting.
Be sure to bring an umbrella, you don’t want your phone damaged by the rain while you’re trying to capture a few Mudkip. There isn’t yet confirmation on the legendary Pokemon Groudon and Kyogre, but it would be cool if their raid probabilities increased on either hot days or rainy days, as they caused flooding and droughts in Pokemon Ruby and Pokemon Sapphire respectively. This special Hoenn update is expected to roll out by the end of the week. For more information, visit the official website.
