Pokemon Go players found a mysterious Pokemon over the weekend, and its name is Meltan

Over the weekend, Pokemon Go players celebrated another Community Day with an emphasis on an increase in Chikorita appearances, but they were given a surprise visit by a mysterious Pokemon with a Nut on its head. When this Pokemon is captured, it’s revealed that it’s actually a Ditto.

Many players suspected that this was a mistake on Niantic’s end, but a video has been released today to crush all doubt. This Pokemon was intentionally released into the wild (albeit as a Ditto in disguise) to make the community feel like they’ve discovered something. It is actually the mythical steel-type Pokemon, Meltan.

Many reports have come in about sightings of Ditto in Pokémon GO that have transformed into Meltan. The number of sightings has significantly decreased over the past few days, but it appears these “Meltan” are still appearing in various areas.

In the video, Professor Willow reveals that Professor Oak is his mentor, and the two will be working together to learn more about this mysterious Pokemon in a series called “The Two Professors.” Meltan will also show up in Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu! and Pokemon Let’s Go Eevee! on November 16th, 2018.
