Nintendo announces Switch hands-on event in New York

A private event featuring hands-on time with the handheld/home console hybrid, the Nintendo Switch, will be held on January 13, 2017 in New York, Nintendo announced today.

The event will follow a live-streamed presentation of the Switch on January 12, where Nintendo plans to reveal the console’s price, release date and lineup of launch games. Following the live presentation — referred to as Nintendo’s “Tokyo webcast” — the Switch will be made available to the press during the five-hour hands-on event in New York.

Since the Switch’s unveiling in October, Nintendo has remained tight-lipped on any further details concerning its next console. However, several reports since the console’s reveal indicate that the Switch will feature a capacitive multi-touch screen and will not have Zelda: Breath of the Wild included in its launch lineup.

Nintendo Switch is currently set for launch in March 2017. See what we think of the portable console so far on the GT Reboot podcast.

Joe's favorite games are Zelda: Majora's Mask, Dishonored, Super Mario Bros. 3 and Hearthstone. His favorite game is not The Witcher 3 because he hasn't played it yet.
