Hello! Welcome to Friday Tabletop Kickstarter Update! For info on what is going on here, check out this introduction. 2015 is getting under way, campaigns are popping up left and right, here are some interesting ones.

Remember that I am in no way endorsing these games, I have not played them, I have not talked to the publishers. Back at your own risk.

Swinging Jivecat Voodoo Lounge
Apparent Weight: Medium
Genre: Area control, Card management, Set collection

Swinging Jivecat Voodoo Lounge certainly has a unique theme and a fully implemented art style to match it. The game takes players back to a romanticised 1950’s and challenges players to navigate a wild and crazy lounge collecting characters for their clique. Don’t let the theme fool you, this is not a run of the mill drinking game, it looks like a highly strategic game about drinking.

Exodus: Edge of Extinction
Apparent Weight: Medium-Heavy
Genre: Space based 4X, Variable player powers, Technology tree

If you like ameritrash games, Exodus: Proxima Centauri should be at the top of your games-to-play list. Territory is claimed, agendas are pushed, technology is researched, and lots of ships are blown up. NSKN games is running a campaign to fund the first expansion for Exodus, Edge of Extinction. This expansions adds variable player powers, even more technologies and a bunch of other modules to enhance your galactic conquest.

The King’s Abbey
Apparent Weight: Medium
Genre: Worker placement, Resource management, Dice

If you are more interested in eurogames, The King’s Abbey is right up your alley. Players are building up their Cathedral trying to outlive the ‘darkness’ that the Dark Ages are known for: disease, famine, raiding and general depression. The game is a whole five and a half pounds of cardboard and wooden goodness. If you are interested, they have a handful of reviews that might sway your decision.

Gang Up!
Apparent Weight: Light
Genre: Social card game, Alliances and backstabbing

Claiming to be simple like Munchkin, but with combos like Magic, Gang Up looks like an interesting ‘Take That’ style party game for when you get burned out on The Resistance or Coup. In Gang Up, players are trying to become the most influential gang boss by attempting various criminal activities. But watch out, your fellow criminal might offer a hand to help, or may botch the whole job. The artwork is worth checking out all on its own.

If you have KS topics that interest you, let me know @Scooter_TTTD

From Trading in the Mediterranean to FPS, I love games. While I grew up in a house without consoles, PC gaming and board gaming were a large part of my formative years, and continue to influence my life. In this golden age of board gaming, I have jumped in headfirst in to anything table top. As a ludilogical student, I love thinking about how games work, their mechanics, their elegance and most importantly, enjoying how fun they are.

Favorite Board Game (at the moment): Twilight Struggle
Favorite PC Game (base solely on play time): Tie between WoW and DII
