Hello! Welcome to Friday Tabletop Kickstarter Update! For info on what is going on here, check out this introduction. There are some heavy hitters out in the crowdfunding world, from Ghosts to Gods, to Superheroes, we have you covered.

Remember that I am in no way endorsing these games, I have not played them, I have not talked to the publishers. Back at your own risk.

Ghostbusters: The Board Game
Apparent Weight: Medium
Genre: Action adventure, Cooperative play, Ghostbusting

Making a huge splash, Cryptozoic released their latest game unto the world: Ghostbusters. Players get to strap on proton packs and hunt some ghosts either in a single mission or in a longer campaign style of play. I was a little surprised to see the Kickstarter edition set at $125, but I guess they are upfront that this is a pre-order. If you are a child of the 80s, you have no excuse but to go check out their video. Who you gonna call?

Among the Stars: Revival
Apparent Weight: Medium
Genre: Drafting, Tile placement, Variable player power

The veteran Kickstarter franchise Among the Stars is seeking to publish a third expansion. If you have not played Among the Stars, you totally should. Players use card drafting and spacial card placement to build up their space stations. Revival introduces a stack of new buildings along with with things like spaceships and advisors to ratchet up the player interaction. I will most likely be backing this one, you should too.

Trickerion
Apparent Weight: Medium-Heavy
Genre: Worker placement, Golden Age of Magic

Sometimes I feel like euro games are underrepresented on Kickstarter, then I see a project like Trickerion. Rival magicians compete to be the best in a fantastical victorian era town. Everything from the components, the theme and the art make me want to sit down and play this game; and it looks like the gameplay will be equally as satisfying.

Theomachy
Apparent Weight: Medium-Light
Genre: Poker with Gods

Launching right after delivering the behemoth that is know as Cthulhu Wars, Petersen Games is bringing Theomachy to the english speaking world. Each player plays as God pulled out of the various pantheons of ancient and modern mythology, and battles it out for world domination. This sounds great right? But the game is focused around a glorified poker mechanic. Just be wary before you back that you know what you are getting in to. No matter what, you are getting some great art.

Heroes Wanted: The Stuff of Legend
Apparent Weight: Light-Medium
Genre: Mix and Match player power, Hand management, Superheroes!

Heroes Wanted has been well received by my of the people who have played it, and now you too have a chance to create your own ridiculous superhero. Heroes Wanted introduced an amusing system of building you hero by taking two different cards (a top and a bottom) to form such greats as Lady Hammer and Human Pumpkin. This expansion adds more hero possibilities and two new game boards.

From Trading in the Mediterranean to FPS, I love games. While I grew up in a house without consoles, PC gaming and board gaming were a large part of my formative years, and continue to influence my life. In this golden age of board gaming, I have jumped in headfirst in to anything table top. As a ludilogical student, I love thinking about how games work, their mechanics, their elegance and most importantly, enjoying how fun they are.

Favorite Board Game (at the moment): Twilight Struggle
Favorite PC Game (base solely on play time): Tie between WoW and DII
