Dragon Quest Builders is clearly inspired by Minecraft

Square-Enix is teasing a new Dragon Quest game called Dragon Quest Builders.

Little is known about the game at this time, but Square-Enix has posted a screenshot (seen above) to the game’s official website showing a blocky environment akin to Minecraft, complete with Dragon Quest Slimes. 4Gamer describes Builders as a “block-building RPG,” which seems in line with the clear Minecraft inspiration to the game’s visual style.

The game’s website has Builders slated for a Japanese launch this winter on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PS Vita, but there’s currently no word on a western release.
