Today, DONTNOD released their final episode of the four-part webseries that delves into the creation of their upcoming narrative-driven action RPG, Vampyr.
In DONTNOD Presents Vampyr Episode 4 – Stories from the Dark, DONTNOD discusses what makes storytelling in videogames different from other mediums as well as how they approach the narrative. The team compares the game to theatre, where characters are closer to the audience than they are with a television show or a film.
Total immersion is the goal, and this episode also highlights how the studio has used motion capture to make the cast of Vampyr that much more human. Subtleties of facial animation can be recreated and combined with the fantastic music, characters, and creatures of the game to produce a living, breathing 1918 London. It’s then up to you who survives it.
As the webseries has reached its conclusion, Vampyr finally has an official release date. Vampyr will be released on June 5th, 2018 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. For more information on the upcoming game, or to see the webseries from the beginning, visit the official website.
