Did SimCity Cause Herman Cain to Create The 9-9-9 Plan?

For those of us who follow politics, we’ve heard about Republican presidential nominee Herman Cain’s ‘9-9-9’ tax plan, which calls for 9% tax rate on personal income, businesses and sales.  Some people immediately noticed that this is very similar to the default settings in SimCity 4 (9% tax rate for housing, commercial and industrial).  Obviously (we think) Mr. Cain didn’t take the idea from SimCity 4, and has publicly called it a lie.  Maxis, however, appears to be less than certain, and in this video which pokes some good-natured fun at the Republic candidates as a whole, while showing them in The Sims 3, we see that the SimCity Mayor is claiming that it is his idea!

To celebrate this fact, Electronic Arts has cut the price on their SimCity games to $9.99 for a limited time.  The best bargain, of course, is The SimCity Box.
