It’s a rare and intriguing phenomenon when a mod for a game becomes more popular than the core game itself, and this is certainly the case for the DayZ mod for Arma2 . Similar to when Counter-Strike was simply a mod for Half-Life 2 , the DayZ mod is now in development as a standalone game.
Updates to DayZ will happen in conjunction with development of the new game, following a “Minecraft development model” of fast iterations with the alpha version available at a discounted price. The game has it’s own homepage now, where over the coming weeks there will be developer discussions and Q/A.
