Blizzard celebrates Hearthstone expansion with Ice Cream Citadel at SDCC

Blizzard Entertainment is celebrating its recent recent Knights of the Frozen Throne expansion for Hearthstone at San Diego Comic-Con with a weekend full of nefariously fun and frosty Lich King-themed events.

Have your photo taken with the infamous Lich King!

On Saturday, July 22nd, Blizzard will be taking over the Knotty Barrel Gastropub, transforming it into the Heartstone Tavern, where fans may gather for food, drinks, a variety of games, including Hearthstone’s Tavern Brawl and corn hole. Additionally, there will be photo ops with Hearthstone eSports team, Tempo Storm, Lich King’s Frozen Thrown, and his pet dragon, Sindagrosa, who will be modeled by cosplayer Jessica Nigri. The Knotty Barrel is located at 844 Market St, San Diego, CA 92101, and the event will run from 6 to 10PM.

Fans with and without Comic-Con badges can cool down by visiting the Petco Park parking lot, which Blizzard will take over from the 20th to the 23rd of July, transforming it into the realm of the villainous Lich King. This transformation will manifest itself as the Ice Cream Citadel, where you can enjoy free liquid nitrogen ice cream and take picture with Blizzard’s most infamous villain, The Lich King on his Frozen Throne. Petco Park is located at  100 Park Blvd, San Diego, CA 92101 (across from the SD Convention Center), and is open from 9AM to 9PM every day of the convention save Sunday, when it will be open from 9AM until 5PM. Cosplayer Jessica Nigri, appearing as the Lich King’s pet dragon, Sindagrosa, will be available for a photo op on Thursday, July 20th, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

If you’re worried about making it from the convention center to either of these events, fret no more! The Knights of the Frozen Throne Pedicab will be available to shuttle fans to and from the SD Convention Center to Blizzard’s events on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
