Beyond Good and Evil 2 makes a surprise appearance at Ubisoft E3

After years of setbacks, disappearances, reappearances, and mystery, the long-awaited Beyond Good and Evil 2 made an appearance today at Ubisoft’s E3 press conference in the form of a cinematic trailer. It looks absolutely bonkers.

Set in the fictional System 3 of the original 2003 game, the Beyond Good and Evil 2 trailer opens with humanoid pig hybrids and a talking chimp haggling over a trade of illicit goods. After the deal goes sour, a chase scene ensues, and the world of System 3 opens to the audience, rich with flying cars, firefights, and all sorts of sci-fi splendor.

Following the trailer reveal, Creative Director Mechel Ancel took the stage, tears welling in his eyes as he thanked his team, CEO of Ubisoft Yves Guillemot, and the fans of the Beyond Good and Evil franchise. (Man, that feels good to say!)

“A special thanks to the fans of Beyond Good and Evil,” said Ancel, “for sticking with us for so long!”

Beyond Good and Evil 2 takes place before the birth of Jade, the protagonist of the original game; “a time when corporations create hybrids in their labs and enslave them to colonize the stars in order to compete for power and cosmic resources.” The worlds and territories of the game will be “as spectacular as they are dangerous.” To become a part of the making of this game, you can join the “Space Monkey Program” by visiting BGEgame.com.

No release window was given for Beyond Good and Evil 2. Here’s hoping it takes less than another 15 years!
