Action RPG Vikings – Wolves of Midgard gets a teaser trailer, early 2017 date

The team at Kalypso have been pretty heavily focused on the strategy space, but they’ve got something completely new to share. Today they unveiled a brutal action RPG called Vikings – Wolves of Midgard. Let’s find out what that’s all about:

Vikings – Wolves of Midgard takes you to the Shores of Midgard in the midst of Ragnarok, the end of days! Battle the fearsome Jotan, hordes of the undead and twisted monstrosities, as you strive to survive the growing cold that threatens to end all life, forever. Master a variety of mighty weapons, including sword and shield, two-handed hammers, dual-wielded axes and swift bows, and unleash devastating spells on your enemies.

In Vikings – Wolves of Midgards you take up the role of a fierce Viking or merciless shieldmaiden facing the eternal cold and perilous beasts of Ragnarok, after the return of the Jotan, who seek vengeance against the Gods of Asgard. The world is on the road to perdition and the fate of Midgard hangs in the balance. But when the Fire and Frost Giants begin to merge their armies, they encounter your clan, the Ulfung – the Wolves of Midgard. Bloody, but unbowed following the destruction of your village. As clan chief, you must save Midgard from complete annihilation, and spearhead the charge to vanquish the fiendish creatures of the Fimbulwinter.

It sounds pretty slick, and the quick teaser above looks like it ticks all the boxes for good ARPG fun. We’ll be getting our hands on it very shortly, so stay tuned for our early impressions of the game in action. You can check out the screenshots from our announcement right here.

Vikings – Wolves of Midgard heads our way in early 2017 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, Mac, and SteamOS.
